The Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum Store was fortunate enough to be visited by the fine folks of Dear LaserWorks back in August. Alisa and David told me about their products then used our Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum logo to create magnets, keychains and ornaments. We have now made this merchandise a permanent part of our Museum Collection in our gift shop. We have plans to feature these items on our new online store as well. Sales of these products support our museum and its many exhibits and programs. To have such nice quality merchandise to offer makes our job at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum Store easier and more satisfying. We were asked by the gift shop at Adkins Arboretum in Ridgely, Maryland to create a series of leaf designs for an ornament set, featuring species that are native to Maryland and grown at the Arboretum. We — and the staff at Adkins — think they turned out great, and we hear that their customers agree!
Last fall we visited the Old Coast Guard Station museum in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Leslie, the museum store manager, was not available at the time, so we left a sample ornament for her. We had barely driven a few blocks when the phone rang — Leslie had seen the sample, loved it, and wanted to discuss it, so back we went! It turned out the Old Coast Guard Station had a special event coming up, and we were able to provide them with ornaments, magnets, and keychains in time. One of the things we love most about what we do is having the opportunity to work with museum shops to meet their unique needs.
